Helping Paws Project: 3D- Printed Prosthetic Hands for Children.
All STEM classes will be working on a very special project called Helping Paws. STEM classes will be partnering with Enabling the Future, a non-profit organization that provides 3-D printed prosthetic hands free of charge to children around the world.
The first experiment students will complete is to experience navigating through one class without the use of their dominant hand. Students will have their dominant hand covered during STEM class as they perform simple tasks and explore how missing a limb complicates movement during disability awareness activities.
Students will experience the limitations presented as we move forward with engineering and designing prosthetics. Students will design their own prosthetics using everyday items and recyclables. Lastly, STEM classes will be designing and printing prosthetic hands that will be sent to children around the world to enable them to enjoy everyday activities with more freedom.
